Trail Descriptions – Åre Bike Park

Three Chairlift Stations – Kabinbana / World Cup Chairlift / 6 Seater Chairlift

900m Vertical Drop
35km of bike trails

1. 1000 meter: Advanced Level
Starting point is up at the top station, and the trail snakes its way down to Hummeln. It begins with slab rock, and then into a fast open mountain trail. This ride is above tree line so in some areas the views of Åre and the lake below are spectacular. From Hummeln, you can choose a number of alternate routes down.

2. Snorkeln: Intermediate Trail
Jump on to this trail from Hummeln. Trail is mostly through forest, with fast technical root and rock sections. At one point, it brings you out on a dirt path and then towards the old toboggan run, which has big old berms to rail.

3. Ripbranten: Expert Level
This is a gnarly steep, tight and stony trail which was used as the start of the downhill world cup in 1999. A genuine white knuckle ride. Starting point - Hummeln.

4. Västra Stjärnvägen: Advanced Level
This is a short technical forest section that continues from snorkeln, and brings you out on to solstigen.

5. Östra Stjärnvägen: Advanced Level Forest trail, with lesser roots, more rocks and steep section. Can be the occasional few wet spots on this trail. Get on to it from Snorkeln, and come out at solstigen

6. Solstigen: Advanced Level
This is a fast, forest trail, with plenty of shredding over root sections. You end up at Fjällgården.

7. Serpentinen: Easy Trail This is a long, light and winding trail, the perfect trail for beginners. Starting point – World Cup chairlift station, ending point – Fjällgården or further to Stjärntorget

8. Downhill Banan: Expert Level
One of the most popular trails. It is steep, technical, and fast. Start is about 200m left of the World Cup chairlift station.

9. Kindergarten: Expert Level
This is the North Shore section. Log rides, tetter-totters, skinnies, drops. The north shore section was extended in 2004, so the new entrance for the very start is located beside a bollard on the downhill course (fast section, can be easy to miss if you are not on the lookout) OR you can enter again half way down from another point which is signposted on the solstigan trail.

10. Kälkspåret: Intermediate Level This one is a real ripper to rail. Formely the old toboggan tack, it is not technical, but its fast with some massive berms. Lead into it from Solstigen or Serpentinen, ending point – Stjärntorget.

11. Bergbanan: Advanced Level This trail starts around the back of Hyddan Café. This is a fun trail with drops, berms, jumps and a couple of options to take.

12. Flinbanan: Intermediate Level
Hop on to this trail from Serpentine. With curvy and twisting trail, this can best be described as a flow trail. This brings you into Kälkspåret.

13. Hällrajd: Advanced / Expert level
This is the first section in newly opened, epic long trail from Åre Skutan, (the top station). This first bit is an amazing stretch of downhill over slab rock. This is for sure going to be one of the new favourites.

14. Hjulingen: Advanced Level
This is the second section of this epic trail, and continues on from Hällrajd. The terrain changes from slab rock, to open mountain trail. Very fast and flowy. There is a lot of work scheduled here for 2006.

15. Bike Cross Bana: Advanced Level
4 Cross track, with all the usual elements you would expect to find, double berms, table tops, step downs. Further developments are under way to expand this track even more for 2006.

16. Bräckevägen: Easy Level
Easy trail from world cup lift to the Olympia area and back to the kabinbana station.

17. Bräckebäcken: Advanced Level
The hjulingen trail brings you directly onto the bräckebäcken. Downhill, forest, single-track best describes the most part of this trail. Eventually you come out to meet the E14 highway, where it’s a short ride back to the main lift station.
